Jealous Gods: because “dansam” was already taken.

A few hours ago, Dan and I decided it would be a good idea for the two of us to start a blog together. He currently lives in New York, and is going to Vietnam and Korea in a week, for two weeks; I currently live in San Francisco, and am going to Trader Joe’s, probably, in a few days, for a few minutes, depending how long the lines are, and how enticing the free samples.

There do happen to be some parallels in our lives, but I will not divulge such parallels at present time; it’s enough to know that this blog is launched as part of the parallel-ness Dan and I share. And in writing our parallelities, so we write The World. And propose new entries into the next edition of Webster’s.

Already, we start off on an unbalanced note, as I (sam) took the liberty of creating a blog name without consulting my cyberpartner.

(Is this a hint of what’s to come??? will Dan resist? will Sam back down?? will Dan edit or delete this post to make this blog more respectable? what in the name of all that’s holy is going on????)

In defense of myself, we did agree, in our phone call, to start something asap; furthermore, and quite to my credit, I first attempted to give the blog the very balanced & equitable name of  “dansam”, but that user name was already taken. I then tried “DanSam”; “dan&sam”; “bitch&ho”, all of which were rejected (reason for rejection, in order of attempt: lower-case letters only allowed; letters and numbers only allowed; profanity allowed but I didn’t really try that one).

A bit pissed off at my lack of success in finding a usable name, I finally tried “god” and “gods”, which were too short and already taken, respectively; reaching the end of my rope, I typed in “jealousgods” – SUCCESS. And then I realized that “Jealous Gods” would be an awesome band name, and Dan & I now have a number of spinoff projects at the ready.

So that’s the introduction. Ready, Dan?
